Ted Wood is an Assistant Public Defender with the Harris County Public Defender’s Office in Houston. He spends part of his time working on legislative issues and part of his time working on appeals. He has been a public defender since December of 2015.
Ted is a 1991 graduate of Baylor Law School where he was a Notes and Comments Editor on the Baylor Law Review. He has an undergraduate degree in Business from the University of Wisconsin.
Prior to working for Harris County, Ted worked for over 13 years as an assistant general counsel for the Texas Office of Court Administration (OCA). Before his employment with the State of Texas, Ted served as Randall County Judge from 1995 to 2002. He has worked as a briefing attorney for the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo and has taught state and federal government classes at Amarillo College.
Ted is married to Jani Maselli Wood, a fellow criminal defense lawyer. They live in Kingwood.
