Council Member
Sylvia Borunda Firth graduated from St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and management in 1981. She then attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with her JD in 1984.
In January of 1989 she became General Counsel for American Garment Finishers, Inc. up until April of 2001. In 2001 Ms. Firth started as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of El Paso. She worked her way up the ranks until December of 2011, when she became the City Attorney for El Paso.
Ms. Firth has been associated with many organizations such as the Women’s Fund of El Paso, Executive Forum, The State Bar of Texas, Texas City Attorney’s Association, and the Government Law Council. She is currently the Minority Director at the State Bar, and sits on the board for the Texas City Attorney’s Association.
